Flames of Freedom

April 17, 2026

A dramatic retelling combining theater and history, the Flames of Freedom podcast chronicles how in 1733, a group of courageous Jews fleeing the Portuguese Inquisition, murderous pogroms of Eastern Europe, and antisemitism in England risked their lives to cross the Atlantic Ocean in search of religious freedom and economic opportunity in the American colony of Georgia. On Thursday, April 17 at 6pm Central, podcast creators Richard Stone and Mark Simon joined MSJE to share the remarkable story and the pivotal role Jews played in the pre-Revolution colony.
